FRCC Code of Ethics

  1. As a member of the Foot of the Rockies Cat Club, I will pledge to advise the public, provide information, and answer to the best of my ability, any inquiries concerning my breed or proper care of cats in general.

  2. I will apprise potential buyers of the negatives or problems inherent to my breed, (i.e., grooming required, estrus cycle, whole maleness) as well as the positive attributes.

  3. I will be discriminating in the placement of kittens and/or adult cats and not deal knowingly with unethical persons, nor sell, nor aid anyone in procuring a cat, whom I have reason to believe will not provide proper care, treat the animal inhumanely, or breed for the purpose of financial gain that would be a detriment to the individual animal or breed.

  4. I will furnish new owners with care instructions and a written contract, which will specify rights, duties, and liabilities of the buyer and the seller.

  5. All breeder member of the foot of the Rockies Cat Club promise that they will place guaranteed healthy kittens or cats.

  6. I will follow inoculation procedures as recommended by my veterinarian and advise my customers to follow these same principles or those recommended by their veterinarian.

  7. I will not place kittens before 8 weeks of age.

  8. I will recommend that this cat or kitten not be allowed to roam free.

  9. I will not place any kitten or cat that is ill tempered, deformed, or has any hereditary anomaly for breeding purposes.

  10. I will sell only CFA registered kittens or cats and will demand a spay or alter agreement on pets.

  11. I further agree that I will not hold liable Foot of the Rockies Cat Club or any agent acting in behalf of the organization for this contract.
